Dr Ravindra Koelhe Charges 2 Rs for a visit

I know this is not a health tip but while researching on Health Topics I came across this one article which is really touching. How many Doctors you know Charge Rs 2, I surely don't know any Until I came across this article, and I wanna say this man is a true Hero,  People write about great politicians, cricketers etc But no one writes and takes a moment to acknowledge such true Heroes. Hence from now on I gonna dedicate this Blog to such people and Ensure they get their do credit.

If you want to serve mankind, go and work among the poorest and most neglected,' Dr Ravindra Koelhe, who has been serving the tribals of Melghat, Maharashtra, for 24 years, tells A Ganesh Nadar.

Dr Ravindra Koelhe, MD, lives and runs a clinic in Melghat, Maharashtra. His fee is Rs 2 for the first consultation and Rs 1 for the second.
Not only is he a doctor and social worker, Dr Koelhe has also taken the government to court for having failed in its duty to protect the Korku tribals of the region.

After completing his MBBS, he worked in Melghat for a year-and-a-half only to realise that he needed more expertise to handle the problems of the tribals. So he went back to medical college for an MD in preventive and social medicine.

"I have now been here for 24 years. In those days there were two public health centres and no roads. Once a week, I used to walk 40 kms from Dharni to Bairagarh to reach my clinic. I used to see at least one tiger every month. Since the last three years I haven't seen a single one," he says remembering his early days as a young doctor.

After completing his MBBS from Nagpur University, he decided to work in rural India. An ardent follower of Mahatma Gandhi and Vinoba Bhave, he was also influenced by Ruskin Bond who wrote, 'If you want to serve mankind, go and work among the poorest and most neglected.'

He toured the rural areas of Gujarat, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh and decided that Gadricholi in Maharashtra was the most backward amongst his travels and decided to work there. His mother discouraged him since it was a Naxalite affected area. She told him that Melghat was equally backward and that he should work here instead.

Dr Koelhe has been in Melghat since then. It has been 24 years now.

Step II :-Try and blink your eyes for 20 times in succession, to moisten them.

Step III :-
Time permitting of course, one should walk 20 paces after every 20 minutes of sitting in one particular posture. Helps blood circulation for the entire body.
Circulate among all if you care. They say that your eyes are mirrors of your soul, so do take care of them, they are priceless.

Eat lots of Vegetables : Carrots, loaded with beta carotene are especially helpful in maintaining healthy eyes. That's because beta carotene is an antioxidant that reduces the risk of macular degeneration.

How to Cure your cold with Brandy

Brandy--a close relative to wine--is distilled from fruit pulp, skins and juice. In fact, the name "brandy" comes from the Dutch word "brandewijn," which means "burnt wine." Traditionally enjoyed after dinner, people drink brandy in snifters so that they can place their hands underneath the cup holding the liquid and gently warm the liquor to bring forth the enticing scents.

History

Brandy dates back to the seventh century when Arab alchemists explored boiling and burning fruits, such as grapes, in order to create medical concoctions. Later, in the 16th century, Dutch traders borrowed these methods to make a wine concentrate and carry the wine in smaller quantities. After these traders introduced brandy to northern Europe, brandy production began to take place.

Types of Brandy

Grape Brandy

Grape brandy, one of the best-known types, comes in forms including cognac, Armagnac and American. As its name suggests, this liquor is produced from grape juice and is double distilled and aged in wooden casks to produce brands such as Martell and Hennessey.

Pomace Brandy

Grapes are also used in the production of pomace brandy; however, this brandy also uses the grape pulp, skin and stems. This type is aged less than other brandies, without the aid of wooden barrels, so that it offers a pungent, crisp flavor true to the fruit from which it is derived.

Fruit Brandy

The fruit brandy is derived from fruits other than grapes, such as apricots and cherries, and produces a clear liquid.

How to use it cure cold?

1. Boil approximately a tea cup full of water .

2. Pour 50ml of  Brandy in  a glass. (Brandy has several properties to recommend it as a treatment, such as the antimicrobial properties of the alcohol and its ability to thin the mucus built up by the cold. In proper amounts, it can also be very calming.)

3.Add the hot water in the Glass of Brandy

4.Add a tease spoon full of Honey. ( Honey is soothing for sore throats and irritated mucus membranes; it is also believed to have sedative properties and relieve coughs and stuffy noses. )

5.Drink the hot brandy just before bed to help you relax. You'll sleep more easily and the ingredients will help you to breathe more freely, cough less and ease the pain and irritation from the cold.

Ratings

Brandy is rated on a system that allows consumers to know the age and quality of the liquor and is often found near the brand name on the bottle. For example, "A.C." means the brandy has been aged in wood for two years while "V.S." stands for "very special" and means this type has been housed for at least three years. A "V.S.O.P." rating stands for "Very Special Old Pale" and indicates that it has been matured for five years, and "X.O." (Extra Old) has been aged for a minimum of six years. Finally, the oldest brandies bear the labels of "vintage," which means it is aged until bottling, and "Hors D'age" is so old that an age determination cannot be made.
